Privacy Policy

Last updated: 1 July 2026

This policy explains what personal data we collect when you use Sakuride, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the rights you have over it.

1. Who We Are

Sakuride is a trade name of Motodam B.V., registered in the Netherlands. Motodam B.V. is the data controller for the personal data processed through the Sakuride platform.

2. Data We Collect

Depending on how you use the platform, we process:

  • Account data: name, email address, phone number, password (hashed), language preference.
  • Verification data: copy of your ID and, for business customers, chamber of commerce and VAT details, as required for customer due diligence.
  • Transaction data: deposits, bids, won lots, invoices, payments, and shipping details.
  • Usage data: pages visited, searches, and favorites, used to operate and improve the platform.

3. Why We Process Your Data

We process personal data to provide the service (account management, bidding, invoicing, shipping), to comply with legal obligations (bookkeeping, anti-money-laundering and know-your-customer rules), and, based on our legitimate interest, to prevent fraud and improve the platform.

4. Payments

Payments are processed by our payment partners Mollie (iDEAL) and Bunq. Your payment details are handled by these regulated institutions; Sakuride does not store your bank credentials.

5. Sharing Your Data

We share personal data only where necessary:

  • Auction agents in Japan receive the information needed to place your bids and register won vehicles for export.
  • Shipping and customs partners receive delivery details for vehicles you have won.
  • IT service providers host our infrastructure within the European Union.
  • Authorities, where we are legally required to do so.

6. Retention

Account data is kept for as long as your account is active. Transaction and invoice data is kept for 7 years to meet Dutch fiscal retention requirements. Verification documents are kept no longer than legally required.

7. Your Rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectify, or erase your personal data, to restrict or object to processing, and to data portability. You can exercise these rights via the contact details below. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).

8. Contact
