Terms of Service

Sakuride is an online platform operated by Motodam B.V. (Netherlands) that gives registered customers access to vehicle auctions held by Japanese auction houses. Through the platform you can browse auction listings, place bids via our licensed auction agents, and arrange payment and shipping of vehicles you win.

Sakuride acts as an intermediary. Vehicles are sold by the respective auction houses under their own auction rules; we handle bidding, payment collection, export, and delivery on your behalf.

You must create an account and complete verification before you can bid. Private customers register with a valid ID; business customers additionally provide a chamber of commerce registration and VAT number.

You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for all activity on your account.

Bidding requires a refundable security deposit. The minimum deposit is EUR 1,000 for private customers and EUR 10,000 for business customers.

Your bid limit is four times (4×) your deposit balance. Your remaining bid limit decreases as you win vehicles and is restored once won vehicles are paid in full. You may place up to 5 bids per auction day, and each individual bid may not exceed your remaining bid limit.

Bids can be created and edited as drafts until the bidding deadline for the relevant auction day (communicated in the platform, typically the evening before the auction). At the deadline your bids are locked and submitted to the auction.

A locked bid is a binding offer. If your bid wins, a purchase agreement for that vehicle comes into effect and you are obliged to pay the resulting invoices.

Auction prices are denominated in Japanese yen. Invoices are issued in euros at the exchange rate locked at the moment of winning, including a 2% currency conversion margin. Purchase-side fees — our Japanese agent's fee (which includes the auction house fee, bidding, inland transport and export papers) and Sakuride's commission of 10% of the hammer price, minimum EUR 750 per motorcycle and EUR 1,250 per car — are quoted together as item ② of the cost calculator and itemised on Invoice 1.

You receive two invoices per won vehicle: Invoice 1 covers the vehicle price, auction fees and our commission; Invoice 2 covers shipping and is issued when the vehicle is dispatched.

Invoice 1 must be paid within 72 hours of issue, by deposit deduction, iDEAL payment, or a combination of both.

If Invoice 1 is not paid within the 72-hour payment window, a penalty of 25% of the hammer price is forfeited from your deposit and your account is suspended. Remaining deposit balance, after settlement of any outstanding obligations, is refunded.

We arrange export documentation, ocean or air freight, and EU customs clearance. Indicated delivery times are estimates; delays caused by carriers, customs, or force majeure are outside our control.

Risk in the vehicle passes to you upon delivery. Please inspect the vehicle on arrival and report visible transport damage within 48 hours.

Auction vehicles are sold on an as-is basis. Condition grades and inspection sheets are produced by the auction houses, not by Sakuride. While these inspections are generally rigorous, we cannot guarantee their completeness and auction purchases carry no consumer warranty unless required by mandatory law.

You can request a payout of your deposit at any time, provided you have no pending bids or unpaid invoices. Refunds are made to the bank account used for the original deposit.

To the extent permitted by law, our liability is limited to the amounts paid by you to Sakuride for the transaction concerned. We are not liable for indirect damages such as loss of profit or loss of use.

These terms are governed by Dutch law. Disputes will be submitted to the competent court in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, unless mandatory law provides otherwise.
